Today we played our Monthly Medal over both course - A/B on the Lake, and C/D on the Murray. It was also the NE Brooch Day.
Congratulations to Heather Giblett who won the NE Brooch qualifier and will now go on to represent YMGCR at Wangaratta at the NE Champs in June.
With only 35 players on the Lake, we only had one grade for our A/B players. Kerryn Eade (27) was our Medal and Pewter winner with a net 72 on a countback from Judy Leeson (18).

YMGCR Men’s Nine Holes
Tuesday’s fabulous weather saw some great scores, as our very own Willie Nelson tribute showman, Normie Prior, had a super round on the Blue Executive to win the day with a terrific 23 points.
No doubt energised by the country music festival over the weekend, he edged Bob “Divi” Vann into second place on 22, with Joe “The Tow” Sciberras leading a three-way countback on 20 points from Ray Pritchard and Trev Pellegrino. Balls went to 18 on countback to Ross Watson, Graeme Lavis, Frank Warren, and Kerry Pendergast.
On the Red, the good scores continued despite only eight holes being played due to work on the 2nd tee box.
Andrew Beattie edged the in-form Stuart Paterson on a countback, with both finishing on 19 points. Balls went to Ray Minette (18), Bob Fiddes (17), Bill Hidson (16), and Pete Mansfield, Digger Dunne, John Kolodziej, and Artie Massey on 15 points.
Thursday’s sunshine again produced some great scoring. Barry McDonald scored 23 points on the Blue to win the day, with the ever-young Ronnie “Smokey” Dawson second on 20. Balls went to Michael Hope (19), Peter Dowie and John Kolodziej (18), and Bill Wyatt, Daniel Chocka, Artie Massey, and Glenn Perkins on 17.
On the Red, Paul Burke continued his winning form with 21 points to take the day. Trevor Pellegrino (19) again came close but is yet to light that cigar, while Bob Fiddes performed well with 18 points. Balls went to 17 on countback to Peter Wilson, who recorded his best game so far, and Ian Nankervis, Ray French, Norm Prior, Ted Latta, and Peter Tudor.
Another week of excellent scoring. Do not forget the AGM and social day on Thursday, 23 April at 10:30 am for an 11:00 am shotgun start.
