He secured the win with his an opening round throw of 17.26m.
It’s a redemption story for Connor, who missed the 2025 nationals because of injury.
Now training with South Bendigo Athletic, his gold is the first individual gold medal of this year’s championships for the club.
And Connor now has his sights set firmly on the next step.
“Connor’s aim is to make the Australian team at the Oceania Games,” his mother Kirsty Wilson said.
“Life around training is full and fast. It’s busy; always busy.
“Connor travels to Bendigo every Saturday.”
Kirsty credits a strong support network for helping Connor reach this level.
He lifts weights with Benny Grant, and says his coach, Emma Burge - Australia’s number‑one ranked women’s shot putter - has been instrumental in his development.
“He wouldn’t be the thrower he is without her behind him,” Kirsty said.
Connor’s team also includes chiropractor Nicholas Couchman from N8 Health Echuca, who has played a key role in keeping him competition‑ready.
The national championships were a whirlwind for Connor and his family.
“We flew to Brisbane on Thursday, he competed Friday, and we were back Friday. And then he did the deb (in Deniliquin) on Saturday.”
The Wilson family says they are “very proud” of Connor’s achievements and excited to see what the coming years hold for the rising thrower.
