A great day was had at the Deniliquin Clay Target Club’s May competition, with strong fields across all grades and visiting shooter Poppa Viney from Echuca producing an outstanding performance to claim the Overall High Gun.

Viney was consistent across every event and set the tone early, finishing with 49/50 in the opening Double Barrel.
In Event 1, the 50‑target Double Barrel, Viney topped the overall standings with 49, while Tim Maher in first, and Colin Hood in second, led the way in AA-grade.
Viney also secured first place in A-grade ahead of Nick Dean, with Neville Lester beat out Troy Marchant taking the honours in B-grade.
Brian Norris and Billy Lahn rounded out the placings in C grade, taking first and second respectively.
The competition remained tight in Event 2, the 50‑target Point Score, where Andrew Fiek claimed the Open win.
Maher and Colin Finn took out first and second in AA-grade respectively, while Viney and Dean repeated their A‑grade placings.
Lester and Marchant continued their consistent form in B-grade, and Paul Anderson beat out Rod Polla‑Mounter to top C-grade.
Event 3, the 10 Target Nev Lester Handicap, saw Maher add another win to his tally, closing out a strong day for the club’s regular competitors.
The club thanked everyone who contributed to the smooth running of the competition.
The next competition will be held this Sunday, June 21, at 10.30am, with visitors and new members warmly encouraged to attend.
