It is hoped it can be delivered in addition to any flood recovery works pending.
The project, which is outlined in Edward River Council’s Memorial Park Master Plan, has previously been allocated $200,000 under a showgrounds stimulus funding package.
The council stated at the time that it was the kind of funding they had been waiting for to start implementing some of the recommendations in the plan.
The master plan is intended to provide the Edward River Council and the Deniliquin community with a conceptual direction, providing a framework for ongoing improvement.
While Edward River CEO Phil Stone has previously said it is hard to put an end date on such long term projects, Deniliquin Rovers president John Glowrey hopes the rooms can be delivered this year.
“The construction of a dedicated trainer’s room has been on our list of projects for some time.
“We hope that we are getting closer to being able to tick that one off the list.
“Although it is not common, when a player is injured or concussed it would be great to have a space where they can receive treatment free from the noise of sides warming up.
“It will offer our trainers and football and netball players a place where they don’t have to dodge footballs or find room beside the netball courts.”
Moving forward Mr Glowrey suggested the club was “waiting to see what the full impact of the floods had on infrastructure, however the trainer’s rooms are a priority”.
