The all-conquering outfit is setting the benchmark in the division, having already dispatched of Strikers Blue in a 5-1 win last time out following on from triumphs over SYC Blue and Mooroopna in previous weeks.
Continuing its premiership charge in round seven on June 20, title frontrunner SYC Yellow defeated its nearest rival in the championship picture in arguably its most significant test of the campaign.
Its opponent on the day had reason to arrive in a confident mood, having put SYC Blue to the sword in a 5-0 win in the previous week, coming off the back of high-scoring victories over Mooroopna and GVGS.
This purple patch propelled Strikers Red to the ladder summit ahead of week seven and the contest at Shepparton Regional Hockey Complex essentially represented a six-pointer in the quest for silverware for both sides.
Ultimately, it was SYC Yellow that claimed the points, but it was an occasion marred by an injury to one of its players, which meant the game was cut short.
It now leads the way in the senior men’s division, with its opponent on the day now playing catch-up after tasting defeat for a first time in the campaign, as its own unbeaten record was finally scratched.
Across the grounds during Pride Round, GVGS defeated Mooroopna 5-1, while SYC Blue inflicted a 3-0 defeat upon Echuca-Moama.
Next up, SYC Yellow faces off against Echuca-Moama in round eight, with a trip to Echuca College on the cards for the Shepparton side on June 27 from 1pm.
Strikers Red will have the opportunity to regroup ahead of its next game at Shepparton Regional Hockey Complex that same day in an interclub derby fixture against Strikers Blue from 2.45pm.
